We take the safeguarding of the children in our care very seriously.
All East Street Early Years CIO staff, students or volunteers have an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). As part of our recruitment staff references are always taken up prior to employment, followed by a probationary period.
Our prime responsibility is the welfare of the children in our care. It is our legal responsibility as Early Years professionals to report any children at risk to the appropriate authorities. It will then be for that authority to assess and making a judgment as to what action to take.
Should you as a parent or carer have cause for concern regarding a member of staff in relation to your child, you should contact the Early Years Manager or Assistant Early Years Manager in the first instance. They who will investigate the issue alongside the East Street Early Years Committee Safeguarding Representative and take all necessary action including informing OFSTED.
You as a parent/carer may also contact OFSTED directly on 0300 123 1231.
Please note that any child brought to the setting with an injury (which include minor bumps and bruises) will result in a staff member completing a form to record the injury. This is then held in the child’s confidential file. We ask that parents not be alarmed as we do this to protect the interests of all the children at East Street Early Years.
