At East Street Early Years we have our own Forest School Leader, Jemma Kerby, who is qualified to lead forest school sessions in a dedicated area of our garden for our early years children.
We offer a Forest School experience both in our Early Years for children of all ages, also Family Fun days during the holidays, as well as a Family Forest school due to start in 2023 on the 1st Saturday of the month.
Our Forest school consists of a large firepit with surrounding logs so you can become fascinated by the awe and wonder of the fire, a small allotment and an area of exploration containing a large tyre, apple and plum trees and a digging site.
Forest school is inspirational in allowing you to become actively engaged in the outdoor learning environment on a regular basis. It offers opportunities for holistic growth in an ever-changing environment. Forest school supports play exploration and careful measured risk taking, allowing you to grow, this also instils confidence and develops self-esteem through hands on learning experience in the natural environment. This therefore helps you to become healthy, resilient, creative, and independent learners.
Forest school inspires a deep connection to the world and understanding of how you fit into it. The process facilitates a nurturing non-judgmental environment where you can learn socially, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Forest school develops resilience and actively promotes problem solving allowing you to become more intellectually and socially aware
